Shara von Schaffhausen is a beautiful long haired 8 month old German Shepherd. Our hearts just broke watching Shara shake with fear. After a volunteer sat with her for 2 ½ hours she realized nothing bad was going to happen to her. We still couldn’t leave her at the kennel, so volunteers got on the phone until they found a foster home for the lucky girl. She trotted off happily to be away from all the noise. We think Shara still has some growing to do, she is around 65 pounds and will probably be around 70 pounds when full grown. We had a potential adopter who didn’t want a long haired shepherd because they were “old souls”. We think Shara is an old soul, but to us it is a good thing, a really good thing. The long haired shepherds are so popular just for that reason. She tested well with cats, she also seems housebroken. We will have updates from her foster home soon.
